Glencoe Scotland Elopement

Christie and Mark originally planned to elope in Oregon and the California Redwoods, but COVID-19 had other plans. So we worked together, to craft a more COVID-19 friendly alternate location. And this Glencoe Scotland elopement couldn’t have turned out any better.

C&M are from Northern Ireland, so Scotland made a better choice as a COVID-19 alternative. The epic mountains, wind, and colors turned out for them, too!

Here’s why they chose to elope:

We want to elope as we feel it is a true representation of us as a couple, we both love the outdoors! I was finding it difficult to come to terms with a traditional wedding in the sense that I come from a disjointed/complicated family and I couldn’t envisage a traditional wedding day that would be enjoyable and stress free, I knew I would most likely be upset by the ‘family’ occasion so in my heart I knew eloping was the right answer. Mark loves me, the outdoors and any excuse for an adventure, so he has been more than happy to agree to eloping as it also means we get to spend the day together, not being pulled in different directions by our families. We plan on having a party to celebrate with everyone when we get home but for us our wedding days is just that, ours, and we know it will be just magical!

Christie and Mark stayed in a beautiful manor just outside of Glencoe, before exploring the nearby Scottish Highlands. It was the perfect place to start – with a warm fire, their doggos, and reminiscing on how far they’ve come in their relationship (complete with some great laughs along the way). Her Rue de Seine gown had me drooling!

After grabbing a bite to eat at a local pub, they adventured down the road to experience all that the Scottish Higlands have to offer outside of Glencoe. My girl Raini led them to so many gorgeous places, from ancient buildings and cairns to mountain peaks.

How to elope abroad as a U.S. Citizen

They ended the day with drinks by the fire, cuddling with their dogs. This is what they had to say about their experience:

We stumbled across Sam’s work shortly after we got engaged and just knew we had to book her for our elopement! We had a few zoom meetings with Sam and we all got on so well and everything just felt easy with her guiding us through the process. Even with COVID and Sam not being able to spend the day with us in Scotland, we trusted her to take care of us – and she absolutely did! She put us in touch with her associate photographer Raini (and her husband, Dave!) who looked after us so well on our wedding day! Looking forward to catching up with everyone when Sam next comes to the UK!

We had a spectacular and magical day – which was hassle free and relaxed (exactly what we wanted). For anyone considering eloping – just DO IT and don’t think twice about it – you will have a unique day about you as a couple and not worry about any complaints from guests on the day. Absolutely could not recommend eloping highly enough and if you want it to be well planned out and stress free with lots of fun along the way then I would definitely reach out to Sam – you will get the day YOU BOTH want, not the day your mum/dad/aunt/granny whoever thinks you should have!
