Stylish Oregon Coast Elopement & Boat Adventure at Cape Kiwanda

Do you want epic florals and a boating adventure for your elopement? Then look no further for inspiration than with Gretchen and Conor’s Cannon Beach area and Cape Kiwanda stylish elopement on the Oregon Coast.

Gretchen and Conor live in Nebraska and contacted me for something epic on the Oregon Coast. Then COVID hit, and plans were thrown up in the air. We rescheduled, and ended up not being able to take our originally planned helicopter ride due to certain restrictions. But that doesn’t mean their day was boring.

They had an amazing and sweet ceremony overseen by Carolyn of Oregon Beach Ceremonies, with some EPIC burnt orange vibe florals from Nicole of Pacific Coast Floral Design.

Gretchen and Conor had a beautiful, vibrant vision for their wedding flowers. They wanted modern, dried, costal florals with pops of bright freshness. Their colors of brown and beige connected with the beach it was set on and the yellow and burnt orange was reminiscent of the sun that was beaming strong and warm that day! All of this set up on the majestic Moongate with its gold circular shape surrounding the happy couple and representing the promise they were making to each other that day. ” – Nicole, Pacific Coast Floral Design

Our helicopter ride was a last minute cancellation and Gretchen and Conor couldn’t think of anything in particular they wanted to do – they just wanted adventure and let me have the reins. The day before they let me know they were up for anything.

So I got to work.

Making their Cape Kiwanda elopement adventure…

I made calls to every contact I had up and down the Oregon and southern Washington Coast. Nicole, from Pacific Coast Floral Designs, actually ended up having the contact that would be key to this day: OAR Angling near Pacific City and Cape Kiwanda!

At sunset, we boarded one of those famous dory boats known for setting out along Cape Kiwanda beach. If you aren’t familiar with how a dory is docked or sets off – it is brought out onto the beach on a trailer and backed up into the water. The truck then does a quick reverse and hits the brakes, while the dory boat is loose and slides into the water. It’s a wild ride!

We boated out to the end of the cape, and around Chief Kiwanda (the haystack rock a mile out to sea). We saw California and Stellar sea lions, and I put my Ranger Sam hat on and spoke about the sea birds we saw, like cormorants, common murres, oystercatchers, and more.

Their stylish Cape Kiwanda Oregon Coast elopement is SO dreamy, you’ve got to check it out below. Shout out to all the amazing vendors and the stunning couple who eloped their lives and made it all happen.
