When I heard Deidra had horseback riding experience, I knew this was going to be a Kauai elopement like no other.
Both Deidra and her husband Juan are vets and work in SoCal. So they’re used to all sorts of animals and taking care of both their patients and their clients. Both of them also LOVE to SCUBA dive, so they had to take the opportunity during their stay to go on a dive or two on the south shore of Kauai.
We were throwing around ideas for activities and since both of them aren’t “heights” type of people, I suggested horseback riding. Well, that was it. It was decided. We would spend over 3 hours exploring a private ranch tour on the north shore of Kauai, and bookend that by spending some time at the beach before and after. Our guide, Brendan, was a kick in the pants and took us to all the best spots on their property. Because it was a private tour and we all had some level of experience (from riding once, to riding competitively), we were allowed somewhat free rein (no pun intended) on the speed we went.
There’s nothing better, to me, than the feel of galloping a beautiful horse across a wide open field surrounded by gorgeous views.
The beauty about a Kauai elopement is that no two are the same. The weather can be different, the activities are almost endless, and every single couple brings a unique aspect to their day.
