Leah and Mike decided that Glacier National Park was the perfect place to say their vows in an intimate elopement ceremony. Why?

“Both of us have been excited to go to Glacier National Park, so we decided it would be perfect for a low-key marriage where we’re focused on each other and the beauty of the area.

We’d have had an awesome wedding day in any way we that did it but, with Sam helping out, it was perfect.

Sam did more than I ever imagined a photographer would. We gave her a big, empty circle (elopement in Glacier National park) and she helped work out all of the details. From information on locations, to links for permits, to scouting the area days before, she removed any piece that could have seemed overwhelming.

On top of all of that, she’s a fantastic photographer and a phenomenal person. Our wedding day was a group of friends, trudging through the woods (hot tea in hand, thanks to her and her husband), laughing, talking, and getting pictures along the way. The photographs beautifully represent every moment of the day; her style will always amaze me.

THE HIKE AND CEREMONY

On the way back, we hopped on the boats that provided a shortcut across Lake Josephine and Swiftcurrent Lake. Leah and Mike had their “first dance” on the bow of the boat, and we pretty much had the entire boat to ourselves. It was, as I like to say, totally “bitchin'”. We ended up waiting to have lunch at the Many Glacier Lodge in the Swiss Room – all of us opted for burgers and some sort of alcohol (Brooke and I bonded over being “hangry”-type people).

THE BOAT RIDE AND MORE PORTRAITS

I have to add in their proposal story, because I love hearing each and every proposal from my clients. It’s totally Leah and Mike – outdoorsy and just a hint of goof/fun:

“On the drive back from Nebraska (to see Leah’s family for Christmas). We had spent the night in Fayetteville, Arkansas to drive through the Ozarks during the day. Leah had originally wanted to find a hike, but it was so cold out that she asked to not do one (“Mike, it’s so cold… the dogs are shivering”). Mike insisted because he had one picked (Whitaker Point Trail). They did the hike but were bundled up and there were only a few others on the trail. Mike proposed at the point. It was a surprise and very unexpected in that moment because of the drive and the weather. Not in general though, as Leah’s dad had spilled the beans a couple days earlier. It was still amazing though!”

Glacier National Park elopements have to be some of my favorite (disclaimer, not my absolute fav, just because I legitimately don’t have a single favorite. I always have like a list of 10 favorite things.). Leah, Mike, Brooke and “The Reverend”, you made August 26th one that I will never forget! <3

I cannot wait until I’m back at Glacier National Park.
